There is a pilot magazine in the UK which always features a section called "I Learned About Flying From That". Each month an anonymously named "Pilot X" takes off into beautiful blue skies only to come to grief some time later. At the end of the article the author analyses the pilot's mistakes. On Tuesday I became Pilot X.
I was flying my trike south through Malaysia after attending a fly-in north of the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. The airfield is about 215 nm from Nusajaya where I base…

Thanks for the return. Sorry to hear about your mishap ... glad you are ok! Hope your plane isn't too bad either?
What I was most curious about was the legal requirements so as for a guy like me coming over there and flying and / or more importantly, teaching and flying for hire.
Please advise!
Thanks!
Steve
I will send you a lot of info once I get back from holiday next week.
Greetings from San Antonio, Texas, USA!
My wife was born in KL! I am so happy to find someone flying trikes there! I desperately would like to know what rules and or situation is there regarding flying trikes? Also Balloons, as that is what I do here for a living. I am very interested in possibly returning there with my wife and flying for a living / retiring. I am a Sport Pilot Instructor in Trikes and Powered Parachutes here in the states as well as a commercial / instructor balloon pilot. ANY information would be VERY appreciated as to operations and laws and rules so as to fly there.
Thanks!
Steve
Thanks for your repy, The XT 582 with the cruze wing is great. The trim speed is about 52/53 Knots . Landing is good , I find that I do'nt use the trim control or mybe I have'nt worked out how to use it correctly yet.
I also find the skydat dash good and have realized that a VSI is a handy gauge to have on board.
There are quiet a few XT912's with Streak3 & cruze wings in our microlight club and so far in my view I have made a good choice.
But we will see, as all start to age a bit and the hours build.
Cheers Mark
Noticed you were on line , Whats Singapore like for flying ?
Cheers Mark
Glad to see you enjoyed Seattle. It is a beautiful place (assuming the weather is good) to fly. Your blog is interesting to read. I am envious of your trip. I am dreaming of flying in Africa someday.

I haven't had an expedition either, although that goal is one of the primary reasons I became interested in triking. There are many good places for yo to fly while you are here- out to the coast and land on the beach, or maybe over to the Columbia river and fly along it.
Where is your upcoming trip to?
Greg
I have not located an instructor in Seattle yet. I am planning on taking my instruction later in the Spring down in Los Angeles (they provide instruction in the trike thet I want to buy- the DTA Voyager).
That does not mean there aren't any around though. There is an outfit in Spokane that says they provide lessons in Seattle called Back Country Aerosports, you can find them on this site.
There is an EAA chapter at Crest Airpark in Kent (close to Seattle) that you can check. Arlington has an active group as well.
I hope this helps, let me know what you find.
Greg
If you come to north Italy let me know!
Carlo
