I just joined the trike pilot social board. I fly out of Williamsburg, VA. I had a forced landing in my Airborne XT-912, ethanol in gas holds water in suspension. After 30 minutes in the air, the engine quit. I had little landing options and brought the trike down in a small side yard. It was a hard landing and we walked away; but the trike landing gear was seriously broken on one side.
I heard from Joe Pfaff, in Warrington, VA, that you had a hard landing and were parting out your trike. I wonder if you have anything that would be of use to me??
Anyway, I am happy to know that you are ok, sorry to hear about the trike.
I learned to fly with John Kammeries out in Arizona; what a blast!!
Regards from Williamsburg,

I'm pretty slow at getting around to these blogs. Usually I find them too political to participate and I'm not into the politics, only the fun and learning.
4th of July is still on, we will talk more about it once I get back from Newfoundland. (Wish I could take my trike up there).
Rick
God Bless and be safe.

Hi John, I have been following all of you on "new mexico-trikers.com" for some time. My wife and I are presently in a move from Littleton, CO, to Albuquerque. New Mexico is not new to me though, I graduated from UNM. My parents (now deceased) lived in Albuquerque from 1967 on and I have a cousin that lives there. About six months ago I took an intro ride with Frank out of DEII. I have been struggling with whether to go with a 3-axis Remos G-3 or opt for a trike, I am very impressed with the DTA Voyageur II. I like your approach to flying; drive there, camp, and see the countryside. We have a Cummins Dodge dually with a Arctic Fox slide-in camper. I want to tow my aircraft and that is why a trike is so attractive. Lugging around a S-LSA with an empennage adds so much more bulk. Also I like the view of the earth below from a trike. Earlier in my life I had made more than one stab at getting my private pilots license, but had to put it on the back burner for one reason or another. I have accummulated about 100 hours. I have been retired for 4 years now, I am 62, and have the free time and the encouragement of the sport pilot designation to get back into the air. Another reason that I am inclined to go with a trike is that Albuquerque has such an active group of trikers. It is always nice to have someone that understands your enthusiasm for flying. I am a lucky guy, my wife is all for this. I have a friend here in Denver that has a C-172 and his wife refuses to go up with him, the plane puts a strain on their marriage. We will be in Albuquerque starting around April 9, so I hope to make the next meeting at JB"s. Any advice about making this big of a decision, on both type and model, would be most welcome. I look forward to any input that you and others may have. Stay well. Joe
p.s. I retired from DOE Rocky Flats. Do you work for the lab in Los Alamos? Delete Comment

Altitude no problem --- last summer we ( Mike Addis and I) flew our Sabres out of Show Low, Az. One day out of St.John Az the Alt of 7,000 ft and temp in the 90's other aircraft where having trouble getting off the deck. We taxied out mid field lifted off in 200 ft and climbed out at 700 ft/min. We both have Rotax 503's.
Question --- our machines are "N" numbered. And although we have passed our written test, we have not finished our check ride yet. Is this a problem for you guys?
Nathan
